Jaguar / Daimler X308
In September 1997, Jaguar introduced the X-308 model range, to replace the X-300's. The name derived from the use of the AJ-V8 engine, first used on the XK8.
At launch, the model range comprised:
XJ8 Saloon (3.2 litre)
XJ8 Sovereign (4.0 litre)
XJ8 Sport (3.2 litre)
XJ8 (4.0 litre)
XJR Supercharged Saloon (4.0 litre)
Daimler Eight (4.0 litre)
Daimler Super V8 (supercharged 4.0 litre)
Each model was geared to a specific market segment, from the 'entry-level' 3.2 litre Saloon, or Executive as it became known, to the top of the range
Daimler models.
The last XJ8s left the production line in mid-2002 prior to the launch of the X-350 range.
